Theatre includes: creating the role of Amos in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Whistle Down the Wind, Phoebus in Notre Dame de Paris (original London cast) and creating the lead role Flash in the Queen spectacular Another Kind of Magic (international symphonic concert tour). He played Enjolras in Les Misérables (Denmark), Ricky Nelson in Bill Kenwright’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven, Simon in Jesus Christ Superstar (Swedish concert version) and co-devised and created the role of Fingers in the gangster revue Repertoire Dogs. In 2001, he produced three of his award-winning shows, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Musical Adventure, A Life in the Daze of Stanley Bishop and Tomorrow Never Knows, at the Edinburgh Festival. Television includes: VJ for The Power Station with Chris Evans. He has appeared on Wogan, Live and Kicking, This Morning, TVAM, The Jack Docherty Show, The National Lottery and The Chart Show. Recordings include: two albums and five singles. Writing includes: a No 2 and No 5 song in the UK Top 40 and a No 18 in the US charts. Dean represented Great Britain in the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest, coming second with ‘Better the Devil You Know’, sung by Sonia. He has written four musicals and won Best Original Work and Best Composer at the Vivian Ellis Awards for new musical writing. He is the only person to have been a finalist three times with three different works. Other work includes: European tour as support for pop artist Tazmin Archer and touring with Michael Ball for the past 12 years. Also, session musician with Lionel Richie, The Bee Gees, Paul McCartney, Annie Lennox, Shania Twain, Will Young, Betty Boo and Andrew Ridgeley. Dean’s company Bulgarian Development is currently constructing an apartment complex in Borovets.
